The Education as a Catalyst for Regeneration Conference welcomes the following types of submissions:

- Research Papers
- Completed research papers covering any of the listed themes or related topic areas.
- Abstracts
- Abstracts of completed or proposed research in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.  
- Case Studies
- Case studies in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.
- Work-in-Progress Reports or Proposals for Future Research
- Incomplete research or ideas for future research in order to generate discussion and feedback in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.  
- Reports on Issues Related to Teaching
- Reports related to innovative provision and pathways or research related to teaching and pedagogy in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.

Format of Presentations:
Paper sessions will consist of three to four presentations in a 90 minute session.  The session will be divided equally between the presenters.
Workshop presentations will be given a 60 minute session.
 
Panel sessions will provide an opportunity for three or more presenters to speak in a more open and conversational setting with conference attendees. Submissions for these 90 minute sessions should include the name, department, affiliation, and email address of each panellist in addition to a description of the presentation or topic area.
 
Poster sessions will last 60 minutes and consist of a large number of presenters.  Poster sessions allow attendees to speak with the presenters on a one-to-one basis.

Notification of paper acceptance: Friday 12th March 2010    
Abstracts should be between 150 and 300 words.  
All abstracts should clearly give Name and full contact details for all contributing authors
A clear indication of which conference theme the submission relates to.
Whether the proposal represents a presented paper, a workshop or a poster.
The full title of the paper.
Full citation of all authors / contributors involved.
ALL AUTHORS should include an annotated biography of no more than 100 words. The biographical description for each contributing author should include information on her/his field of study, main research interests and any key publications.

·         What is a project?
Defining when something is or is not a project.
·         How to define success for your project
Without identifying what you want your project to achieve and how you cannot measure its success nor say when the project has come to an end.  This section will give you the tools to identify and describe success in your project. 
·         Identifying the stages in a project
All projects have the same basic phases.  You will be introduced to these phases and see how they relate to each other. 
·         The basics of planning a project
There are many tools for planning a project.  In this section you will learn some of the core techniques. 
·         Implementing and monitoring a project
These processes are vital to the project's success.  Implementation requires the establishment of a team with clear assignment of roles and responsibilities, clear lines of reporting and effective team working and leadership.  This section will give an overview of these issues along with advice on what to monitor in a project and how. 
·         Completing the project
A project has a clearly defined end point.  You will consider how to draw a project to a successful conclusion. 
·         Skills of a good project manager
Project management skills go beyond those of normal management skills.  The course will look at how and give you an opportunity to reflect on how your own skills currently match with those needed to be a good project manager. 
 
·         Learning outcomes
Ability to identify when a piece of work is a project
Understanding of how to describe and identify success in a project.
Awareness of basic planning methodologies for projects

The Generation Gap—fact or fiction?

The 2010 conference will highlight archives from the Huntley collections on supplementary education. Why did Caribbean parents fight to provide supplementary school education for their children? What has been the educational experience of Black youth from the 1960s to the present?

The purpose of the event is to build narrative views of the world of records
management through developing short group and individual stories. We hope to
capture and convey some of the values and benefits of information
management and the RIM profession. Stories will be recorded and with

Årets tema er kreativ arkivformidling. Konferansen er for arkivformidlere fra hele Norge og foregår i Riksarkivbygningen. 


”Er naturfag bare for nerder?” spør professor i biologi og vinner av UiOs formidlingspris 2008, Dag Olav Hessen. Han innleder med noen refleksjoner rundt fagformidling. En av Norges mestselgende forfattere, Frid Ingulstad skal snakke om hvordan ett enkelt dokument kan være utgangspunkt for en bokserie på 45 bøker.

 

Cathy Gorn, leder av National History Day i USA forteller om denne markeringen, som er stor i USA. Fra USA kommer også Lee Ann Potter, som er Director of Education and Volunteer Programs ved U.S. National Archives in Washington, DC. Hun vil dele sine erfaringer som formidler til skoleungdom og lærere.

 

Trond Kielland Haakensen og Jørgen Engestøl fra Riksarkivet presenterer Riksarkivets prosjekt ”Norge i 1743”, som involverer både utstillinger, omvisninger, arrangementer og bokutgivelser.

 

Konferansen har som mål å være praktisk rettet slik at alle kan ta med seg gode ideer derfra, og kanskje få inspirasjon til nye løsninger.

Utvidet og detaljert program kommer senere.

Overvejer "dit"  arkiv, bibliotek eller museum at indgå i samarbejde med andre kulturarvsinstitutioner om projekter eller permanente funktioner relateret til lokalhistorie? Så er der ingen grund til at starte ud i det blå.

Gennem de seneste år  har Aalborg Stadsarkiv, Aalborg Bibliotekerne og Nordjyllands Historiske Museum arbejdet med at optimere samarbejdet om lokalhistorie.

Kulturarvsstyrelsen og Biblioteksstyrelsen har i to omgange bevilget penge til at udvikle og afprøve en model for, hvordan et ABM-samarbejde kan foregå. Projektets første fase er beskrevet i denne rapport.


I anden fase af projektet er modellerne for samarbejde mellem  institutionerne blevet afprøvet og evalueret på grundlag af tre konkrete projekter, som omfatter både indsamling, bevaring og formidling af samlingerne.

Nu er det tid til at oplæg til en model for samarbejdet skal deles og vendes med andre museer, arkiver, biblioteker osv. - derfor indbyder vi til et vidensdelingsseminar, hvor vi glæder os til at høre synspunkter og reaktioner på modellen.
