	<content:encoded><![CDATA[The Department of Lifelong Learning and Outreach, University of Limerick, Ireland and the Centre for Community and Lifelong Learning at the University of Wales, Newport are hosting a second international conference discussing the role and links between higher education and community regeneration. &nbsp;<br>The conference will present an international comparative dimension and will focus on the transformational potential of learning, both for those living within, as well as outside of, regeneration communities. &nbsp;<br><br>All are welcome&#151;community groups and representatives, members of the public, practitioners, policy makers and academics.<br><br>CONFERENCE THEMES<br>&#149; Community Engagement and Learning<br>&#149; Regeneration Policy and Practice<br>&#149; The Social and Economic Impact of Regeneration<br><br>Submission of abstracts may include reporting on policy development, innovative practice, research in progress or completed research, methodological issues, theoretical issues or conceptual issues in the following topic areas: <br><br>- Higher education working with communities <br>- Integration and understanding difference<br>- A vision for a new 14-19 landscape<br>- Addressing disadvantage and exclusion<br>- Digital inclusion<br>- The challenge of re-skilling communities in de-industrialised regions<br>- The role of employers in raising skills levels for regeneration<br>- Social enterprise as a means of combating social exclusion and reducing poverty <br>- The effectiveness of regeneration in enhancing social capital<br>- Lessons from international development<br>- Intergenerational learning and education<br>- Community-led learning<br>- Experiences in physical regeneration<br><br><br>The Education as a Catalyst for Regeneration Conference welcomes the following types of submissions:<br><br>- Research Papers <br>- Completed research papers covering any of the listed themes or related topic areas.<br>- Abstracts <br>- Abstracts of completed or proposed research in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas. &nbsp;<br>- Case Studies <br>- Case studies in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.<br>- Work-in-Progress Reports or Proposals for Future Research <br>- Incomplete research or ideas for future research in order to generate discussion and feedback in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas. &nbsp;<br>- Reports on Issues Related to Teaching <br>- Reports related to innovative provision and pathways or research related to teaching and pedagogy in any of the topic areas listed above or related areas.<br><br>Format of Presentations:<br>Paper sessions will consist of three to four presentations in a 90 minute session.&nbsp; The session will be divided equally between the presenters.<br>Workshop presentations will be given a 60 minute session.<br>&nbsp;<br>Panel sessions will provide an opportunity for three or more presenters to speak in a more open and conversational setting with conference attendees. Submissions for these 90 minute sessions should include the name, department, affiliation, and email address of each panellist in addition to a description of the presentation or topic area.<br>&nbsp;<br>Poster sessions will last 60 minutes and consist of a large number of presenters.&nbsp; Poster sessions allow attendees to speak with the presenters on a one-to-one basis. &nbsp;<br><br><br><br>Submission of Abstracts<br>Abstract submission deadline: <b>Friday 12th February 2010</b>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Notification of paper acceptance: <b>Friday 12th March 2010</b>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Abstracts should be between 150 and 300 words. &nbsp;<br>All abstracts should clearly give Name and full contact details for all contributing authors<br>A clear indication of which conference theme the submission relates to.<br>Whether the proposal represents a presented paper, a workshop or a poster.<br>The full title of the paper.<br>Full citation of all authors / contributors involved.<br>ALL AUTHORS should include an annotated biography of no more than 100 words. We are <br>running two storytelling sessions for separate groups in central London (British <br>Library Conference Centre) on Monday 1st March 2010: <br><br>2.30-5pm - Afternoon Session<br><br>OR<br><br>6-8 pm - Evening Session<br><br>The purpose of the event is to build narrative views of the world of records <br>management through developing short group and individual stories. We hope to <br>capture and convey some of the values and benefits of information <br>management and the RIM profession. <P><BR>&#148;Er naturfag bare for nerder?&#148; sp&#248;r professor i biologi og vinner av UiOs formidlingspris 2008, Dag Olav Hessen. Han innleder med noen refleksjoner rundt fagformidling. En av Norges mestselgende forfattere, Frid Ingulstad skal snakke om hvordan ett enkelt dokument kan v&#230;re utgangspunkt for en bokserie p&#229; 45 b&#248;ker. </P>

<P>Cathy Gorn, leder av National History Day i USA forteller om denne markeringen, som er stor i USA. Fra USA kommer ogs&#229; Lee Ann Potter, som er Director of Education and Volunteer Programs ved U.S. National Archives in Washington, DC. Hun vil dele sine erfaringer som formidler til skoleungdom og l&#230;rere. </P>

<P>Trond Kielland Haakensen og J&#248;rgen Engest&#248;l fra Riksarkivet presenterer Riksarkivets prosjekt &#148;Norge i 1743&#148;, som involverer b&#229;de utstillinger, omvisninger, arrangementer og bokutgivelser. </P>

<P>Konferansen har som m&#229;l &#229; v&#230;re praktisk rettet slik at alle kan ta med seg gode ideer derfra, og kanskje f&#229; inspirasjon til nye l&#248;sninger. </P>

S&#229; er der ingen grund til at starte ud i det bl&#229;.<br><br>Gennem de seneste &#229;r&nbsp; har Aalborg Stadsarkiv, Aalborg Bibliotekerne og Nordjyllands Historiske Museum arbejdet med at optimere samarbejdet om lokalhistorie.<br><br>Kulturarvsstyrelsen og Biblioteksstyrelsen har i to omgange bevilget penge til at udvikle og afpr&#248;ve en model for, hvordan et ABM-samarbejde kan foreg&#229;.
